“It's the very best skin—I've ever been in
It goes all over me, and it covers every little place
My knuckles and my knees, my finger and my face.”
This body of work is inspired by Kent Stevenson's song for children “My Sensational Skin.” Intrigued by the tender wrapping of my own children, I started exploring the beauty and diversity of the most amazing of our organs - the skin. It is used every day, durable enough to last but fragile at the same time. The project soon expanded from my family to others. The appearance of their skin represents a stage in people's lives - I see grace and beauty at any age.
The pictures were first exhibited at the Photographic Center Northwest, June 8 - July 10, 2007.
My sensational skin, with up to 17 pictures is now available as a traveling exhibition. The images are matted and framed in white metal frames with plexi glass. The print size is 14 X 21 inches, the dimensions of the frames are about 21 x 28 inches.
